How To Get Free Marvel Comics For 90 Days Via Unlimited Digital Subscriptions!

May 8, 2017 by Dave 5 Comments

It’s occurred to me recently that between all the many free trials of “all you can eat” digital comics services, a dedicated comics reader could knock out a whole lot of comics without spending a dime.

The recent addition of Marvel Comics to both Comixology Unlimited and Kindle Unlimited has made this particularly appealing for Marvel specific reading.

According to my advanced calculations, through existing Marvel promo codes (think “free Marvel Unlimited account”) and Comixology and Kindle’s standing 30 day free trail, a comic book reader could easily knock out approximately 3 months of free Marvel comics!

If you’re newer to Marvel comics, knowing where to start can take some serious research, and occasionally a well-crafted tome on the subject.

To avoid this lengthy delay in your free trial period, I’ve put together a reading guide for every day of your free trials!

Below you’ll find Comic Book Herald’s free Marvel Comics reading guide, or as I like to call it in my saved files, Daveye’s Workout Plan.

Read Marvel Comics with these easy steps!

The Plan

Here are the basic guidelines I followed:

  • Typically no more than 6 issues per day (one story arc, or trade collection, or series)
  • For Comixology & Kindle, when we run out of Marvel, I’ll recommend other books I like
  • The guide assumes you start your free trials according to the below plan!

Month 1 – Marvel Unlimited

For the first month of your Marvel Comics reading spectacular, I recommend using Marvel Unlimited. Truth be told, I recommend Marvel Unlimited even when it’s the $69.99 annual fee (totally worth it), but using a Guardians of the Galaxy 2 promo code, you can try it out for a free month.

Here’s the promo code that will work until May 10: MCOCGOTG2

Start your Marvel Unlimited free trial here!

Note that the below guide will work for reading even beyond the promo, but of course it won’t be a sweet 90 days of free Marvel Unlimited comics.

You may blow through the six issues a day and find that you want more comics to read. In this case, I’ve highlighted reading guides on Comic Book Herald that will help you find related comics. I’d also always recommend you check out the Comic Book Herald Complete Marvel Reading Order.

If you want to learn more about Marvel Unlimited, and whether it’s right for you, I recommend Comic Book Herald’s detailed review.

Month 2 – Comixology Unlimited

Within the last week, Comixology Unlimited has announced a partnership with Marvel for about 20 select collections and single issues. Generally speaking, this includes first volumes or first issues of some of Marvel’s more popular series.

Unlike Marvel Unlimited, you cannot just keep reading an entire series as part of your Comixology subscription. Additionally, we’ll run out of Marvel books with about a week and a half left in your subscription, at which point I’ll recommend some of the other great comics within Comixology’s library.

If you want to learn more about Comixology Unlimited, and whether it’s right for you, I recommend Comic Book Herald’s Comixology Unlimited review.

Month 3 – Kindle Unlimited

Finally, Kindle somewhat surprisingly adds unique Marvel comics compared to the Comixology library, even though both services are owned by Amazon.

You’ll get some great additions in this batch of reading recs, including Ms. Marvel, Fraction & Aja’s Hawkeye, and the start of the Brian Michael Bendis era of Guardians of the Galaxy.

If you want to learn more about Kindle Unlimited for comics, and whether it’s right for you, I recommend Comic Book Herald’s Kindle Unlimited review.

Get Started With Free Marvel Comics!

You can download Comic Book Herald’s reading plan below. You can pay what you want for the guide, but given that this approach offers up a savings of $25, I ask for a tip of $3.99 for those who are able, or interested in supporting Comic Book Herald.

OK, I don’t really need this plan as I already have Marvel Unlimited; that kinda blows the plan right there. But I also have no issue (pun intended) supporting friends who give me great reading guides.

    So there!
